English Society

As a society, we focus on the social aspect of the subject- often taking trips to museums or galleries to explore and educate ourselves on contemporary literature. In the past, we have explored areas such as Southbank Centre’s multiple exhibitions and plan to visit more places in London.
We also regularly host movie nights and games within the university for those who feel more comfortable attending on-campus. 🙂
In the past, we have also placed a ball for everyone to enjoy at the end of the year, with last year being a ‘Spring’ theme, and this year is to be decided. We hope to see new members soon.
Queen Mary Debate Society

We are the Queen Mary Debate Society, whose business is to debate everything under the sun. From world politics to philosophy and whether Santa is a communist, we've debated it all! We meet every Monday evening during term-time, 6.30 to 8.00PM in Bancroft 1.15, and we frequently collaborate with other societies and send our members to debate competitions in other universities such as Oxford, Birmingham and Imperial. We are also holding a debate competition in Queen Mary this upcoming semester. Please come along! We cater to all levels of debating ability.
QM LGBT+ Society

We aim to be a space for LGBTQIA+ students to network, socialise, and create campaigns. We hold events on and off campus, including LGBTea and Coffees, Karaokes, Movie Nights, and visits to local bookshops and cafes. We also hold an annual Queer Ball during LGBT+ History Month. This year we are also working with the BL LGBT+ Society to co-host their 10th annual Drag Extravaganza. We also do campaign and policy work, with our most recent campaign lobbying QMUL and QMSU for gender neutral changing facilities at Qmotion.
